April 30, 2024Arma Goes Sci-Fi
After some deep diving on the internet, I've found out we might be in for more than just Arma 4. This sounds crazy I know but trust me here. We all know about Arma 4 which I think is still coming around early 2025. However, after googling Bohemia Interactive's jobs listing we can see their hiring for a "Junior/Regular Art Researcher" for Arma 4 which you can see here.
So giving this information about hiring artists, to me it says there is still a little left before we can expect to see the launch of Arma 4. Other than the YouTube video titled "Road to Arma 4" we haven't got much to go off, just hype and speculation - hence why I'm trying to provide some proof to my speculations.
But that's not why we are here - I could be completely wrong here, but it's worth mentioning. We could be in for more than just Arma 4, on the Bohemia interactive website under the jobs and applications, we can see a job list for "Deployment Engineer" Which is under the "Project - Arma 3 / Unannounced" Now as for what unannounced could mean, the fact they already state on other job applications "Arma 4" I don't think this will be related otherwise they'd just say it. Being "Deployment Engineer" which by Google terms is "A deployment engineer is a computer system specialist who installs and maintains networks, software, or computer systems." - However Bohmeia's job description breaks it down to the following.
Into Space
"The studio is currently focusing on two projects: Arma 3 Live Ops and an unannounced sci-fi game on the Enfusion engine"
So - who knows what we could be in for - could it be like Halo? nobody knows yet. However, i'd be interested to see what the community thinks of it. A lot of the Arma community enjoys the realism and roleplay side of the game. So I don't see a Sci-fi game going down well. However, Bohemia Interactive knows this and is very community-driven - so I doubt they'd make a space game that no one will enjoy!
