Flight Simulator 2024 Everything We Know So Far
January 2, 2024Bohemia Interactive has officially confirmed the arrival of Arma 4, and it’s shaping up to be a game-changer in the world of multiplayer military simulation shooters. Let’s dive into the exciting details and the latest scoop on this highly anticipated sequel – along with some rumors.
The Big Announcement: Arma 4 is a Reality!
One year ago – May 18, 2022, Bohemia Interactive dropped the bombshell we were all hoping for – Arma 4 is in development! After the resounding success of Arma 3, the community was hungry for more, and the announcement marked the beginning of a new era for the Armed Assault series.
Arma 4 Release Date Speculation
While the news is undoubtedly thrilling, the burning question on everyone’s mind is, “When is Arma 4 coming out?” Bohemia Interactive, in their strategic move, introduced Arma Reforger, a test-bed game designed to perfect the new Enfusion engine and fine-tune functionality for Arma 4. Our educated guess? Brace yourselves for a mid-to-late 2024 to early 2025 release date. Bohemia’s focus on quality and perfection suggests that good things come to those who wait.
It’s not all bad news though – although it’s not today, personally I’m expecting to hear more from Bohemia Interactive with more screenshots, and if not a set release date. If we look back to Arma 3, we can expect a rapid and fast release. Bohemia Interactive announced in August 2013 that Arma 3 would be launching on PC on September 12th, 2013. So with Bohemia’s interactive past track record, we can hope for a similar smooth launch of Arma 3.

Arma Reforger: A Glimpse into the Future
Enter Arma Reforger, the early access test bed set on the fictional island of Everon, inspired by Czechoslovakia. Acting as a “creative platform,” Reforger serves the dual purpose of testing the Enfusion engine and providing valuable feedback for Arma 4’s development. With gameplay set in the 1980s, armed with era-authentic weapons, vehicles, and equipment, Reforger offers two thrilling multiplayer modes: Conflict and Game Master.
But here’s the kicker for all you modders out there – Reforger includes a suite of in-house development tools called Workbench. This arsenal of tools, identical to those used by the developers, empowers modders to create content that can be shared on Bohemia’s integrated repository service, Workshop. Get ready for an explosion of creativity in the Arma 4 modding community!
Arma 4 Trailers: The Road to Anticipation While an official Arma 4 trailer is yet to grace our screens, Bohemia has teased us with the “Road to Arma 4” trailer. Providing glimpses from previous games and a tantalizing look at the Arma 4 logo, this teaser amps up the anticipation for what’s to come.
Arma 4 Leaks and Rumors: Separating Fact from Fiction
In the world of gaming, leaks and rumors are inevitable. The journey to Arma 4 began with whispers in January 2021 when alleged screenshots of Arma Reforger surfaced. Fast forward to May 2022, and Bohemia officially unveils Arma Reforger as the precursor to Arma 4. While speculations were rife about Arma 4 being years away, the community now has tangible proof that the gears are in motion.
As we eagerly await more official information on Arma 4, discussions about the game’s features and potential monetized mods are already circulating. The Arma Reforger project lead hinted at building a community of modding experts for Arma 4, paving the way for an expansive and creative player-driven experience.
Arma 4 Virtual Reality
This might surprise some but it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen virtual reality inside of an Arma game – crazy right? Well beforehand we had to use a tool called Vorpex, to dumb it down – basically, it takes 2 images of the game and puts them in your headset and offsets them to create an authentic VR experience. It also emulates the movements like TrackIR does in the same way – although it’s not perfect and has plenty of drawbacks, it’s a fun experience but you’ll be limited to non-battleeye servers.
With Virtual Reality only growing and getting stronger, I think it’d be ever more likely that we could see Bohemia Interactive introduce a VR mode – even if it is only basic for just a sitting headset experience. I must stress this is only my personal speculation and I could be wrong.
What PC Specs will Arma 4 Need?
Arma 4 will be using the Enfusion engine made by Bohemia Interactive – as we said earlier Bohemia Interactive released a “test-bed” game called Arma Reforger, which uses the amazing Enfusion game engine. Although we are yet to see any official spec requirements we can go off what Arma Reforger requires as a baseline.
- Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system.
- OS: Windows 10 64-bit.
- Processor: Intel Core i5-4460 / AMD FX-4300.
- Memory: 8 GB RAM.
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or AMD Radeon RX 570.
- DirectX: Version 12.
- Network: Broadband Internet connection.
- Storage: 15 GB available space.
From Steam
I’m expecting Arma 4 to use an updated version of the Enfusion engine when it is released – so expect the requirements to be slightly high – specifically, I’d say at least 16GB of RAM, and at least an RTX 2060 and if not more if we see VR. Virtual Reality can be very CPU and GPU intensive and will depend on the resolution that your headset scales too.
Modding In Arma 4
Just like in the rest of the Arma series – Arma 4 will have extensive mod support, which means we will see game modes like Altis Life and much more. We’re already seeing it in Amra Reforger – however, those who are familiar with coding in SQF. A word of warning, it appears that the new Enfusion engine is using a mix of SQF and Object-based coding. It’s syntactically close to C# so if you’ve ever worked with C# or C++ before, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue for you.
We can also expect a much more simple way of downloading mods for servers now – go are the old days of the launch (So I suspect at least), you’ll simply open the game and join a server. When joining it’ll automatically download all the packages and mods required making it much easier for the end user.
