December 21, 2024How to get the FlyByWire Airbus A380 Working in MSFS2024
The Flybywire team may take some time to officially get their highly respected and loved A380 into MSFS2024 as it's still a heavily working progress addon. So in the meantime here's a workaround to get it working in your Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 now. Note: Flybywire doesn't currently support MSFS2024 and there may be bugs - (None that I've found)
With this in mind let's move on to how to get this working,
The first thing you'll want to do is probably copy your community folder from MSFS2020 into 2024, however, you'll find this won't work. As of this day of posting, this is the way to get it working fully (At least for me).
Open the Flybywire Installer app, in the bottom right - you'll see the settings icon, click on it. From here you'll want to go into "Download", now you'll want to change both folder locations to your MSFS2024 Community folder location. Once this is done, you can go back out of the settings page and to the A380 download page. You'll want to download the "Development 4k" or 8k if you so choose - the current version working is "bf00fa8".
Once downloaded you'll be able to see it inside your Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, and you should be able to fully enjoy it now. However, we can go a step further and get the OIT computer working inside the cockpit (The built-in tablet next to the window-mounted tablet) - You can use this display the same as the tablet, I often use it for charts and notes. You'll want to download This mod from Flightsim.to Here - This OIT mod adds the tablet functionality to the OIT making the aircraft feel just that bit more polished and finished off.
In terms of installing liveries, I haven't run into any issues yet - however like with the Fenix A320 - not all liveries may work.
The walk-around mode isn't anything yet as the aircraft hasn't had MSFS2024 support yet, however, it is still fun to walk around the A380.
Hopefully, this works for you guys, as the Flybywire team updates the aircraft it may cause issues within 2024 and the same goes for 2024 updates we may run into compatibility issues. However, as of today's date, I've got it working the same, if not better than I do in MSFS2020 as the FPS is far better in MSFS2024.
