May 11, 2024LatinVFR A340-300 Review: Is it worth it?
LatinVFR has been known fornot only making airports but also aircraft, we've seen someinteresting things come of their past products -however, with excitement, I purchased the LatinVFR A340 - I have faith in them
Starting offthecockpit looks decent, it's nothing spectacularbut, it's an A340 cockpit and a decent one at that. The last a340Cockpit I used was from Wilcoso this was a very welcoming sight. It's worth noting this A340 is NOT a study-level simulation, it is more of a bridge between entry-level and intermediate-level.There is a decent amount of clickable switches and function systems in the aircraftÂalthough not everything is functional
EFB
The EFB (electronic flight bag) is a decent EFB, you can import flight plans, weights, and fuel and send them straight into the MCDU which is always a welcoming feature to us simmers. However, I will say, thatwhen I first loaded A340, I wasn't able to interact with the EFB at all - this is due to having the Horizon Simulations 787 installed, once uninstalled it worked perfectly. It's a fairly simple EFB but I kind of like it simple, there is Navigaph integration. You can pull up meta for airports and select ground services, weights, and so on.
Flight Model
LatinVFR hasclearly gone to some lengths to make this a nice flight model cause it's decent, my first test flight took me from VHHH to RCTP. The weather wasn't nice at all - fully loaded it took quite a while to get up to speed to even hit V1. However, I rotated into the sky and it felt like an airbus should be weightless on the controls and it wasn't flying like a Boeing. During the approach, I faced some rapidly changing winds and the aircraft behaved as it should have surprisingly. I've never flown an A340 in real life, but from a veteran seasoned simmer, it felt decent.
Avionics
We still see some assets we assumed and in my personal opinion being used from Asobos A320, which I am personally okay with - if it's functional and does the job then why not? Which for the most part this A340 does perfectly. ECAM and PFD all seem to look really good and somewhat authentic as well.
Caution
During my ILS approach to RCTP, it became somewhat unstable and it wasn't tracking the glideslope correctly and kept aiming high then dropping low.
Let's take a moment to appreciate this beast of an A340
Compatibility
GSX: Not standard
SimFX: Somewhat
VR: Not well done
Final thoughts
Finally thoughts, for the price it's honestly a bit steep for what you're getting - bang for your buck. However, honestly, this is one of the better LatinVFR aircraft to come out which I think deserves some appreciation. Check it out on the In-Sim marketplace Today
