May 28, 2024Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 2nd Trailer Coming June 9th
The next trailer might be closer than you had initially thought, with the next trailer dropping on the 9th of June, at the Xbox Showcase event. Today is just under 2 weeks, and the last trailer for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was very career-heavy and focused, I'm interested to see what the focus will be for this upcoming trailer.
Development Live Stream
We also learned a lot from the past development livestream, I'll dive right into what we've found in dot points.
Historical weather
We will finally get historical weather in the simulator meaning we can go back to storm dates, and experience hurricanes without using weather presets, they've stated there will be a 24-hour buffet to enjoy that current weather.
New Bing data
During a development live stream with Asobo, we were all told that they had recently recovered between 200-230 Terabytes of Bing data, we can assume we'll see higher detail and larger photogrammetry data across the simulator. We can expect 3d cites, and higher ressolution textures possibly.
New Game Engine Feature
The data will used for its full advantage in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, as one of the features we've seen in the teaser trailer, is 3d Tress with animations. This and I'm sure as we find out many other features will be taken to full advantage, with the Game Engine.
In the sim, marketplace revamp
For a long time, users of the Microsoft Flight Simulator have complained about the lack of detail and the low quality and features of the Microsoft Flight Simulator in-game Marketplace. We can expect a full revamp of the marketplace allowing users to leave ratings, comments, and more features to help users level valuable feedback to developers.
Feature Discovery Episodes
Just like with the original Microsoft Flight simulator, we had feature discovery episodes documenting key features of the simulator prior to its release. This is something we can expect to start again leading out to its release date.
Improvements in download speeds, and loading times
A topic the team wasn't ready to speak about quite yet however if we read deeper into what they were saying, it looks like we're going to have a significantly large improvement in downloading and loading speeds into the simulator. The simulator could be taking more advantage of the cloud / AI system to help improve those speeds.
Massive Development Team
There are a lot of team members working on the simulator, outside of Asobo - there are 25 development groups, and over 700 people working on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. I can't find the exact number of team members Asobo had for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 - However, I'm assuming it is a large increase.
Current Trailer
Next Trailer 9th June
The next trailer we can expect to launch during the Xbox Showcase event which will be held on June 9th - we will likely see more features on the simulator. Our first look into the simulator we had a career-focused trailer. We're not sure what to expect next however we know it'll be just as amazing. So remember June 9th at the Xbox Showcase event.
inibuilds is a defaulting developer for aircraft in the sim
Asobo has also said there will be a few developers making default aircraft into the simulator and one of the names was iniBuilds, which we knew by seeing the A300 and the Belugia in the simulator.
