June 11, 2024Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Walk Around Mode
I'm not too sure what the actual mode would be called - so I'm just going to call it walk-around mode - I'm talking about physically walking around the aircraft doing your preflight, having a third person, and seeing your pilot avatar and being able to explore airports and local areas on foot.
This is something we've seen a few times in both of the trailers for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. From what I've seen there has been a big push to include a lot more NPCs and pilot avatars through both trailers - I'm sure we'll hear more about it soon from the team at Asobo.
So what could the potential of this mode bring to the simulator, Let's talk about that - something that a lot of developers are now bringing into study-level aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 is walk-around preflight modes on their tablets. This allows you to check the aircraft in a kind of clunky matter - it works decently however it'd be better if we could just walk on our feet and actually go around the aircraft and do our preflight giving it more of an open world feeling to the simulator and platform.
Although this is something we can pretend to do using the drone camera and using Fsrealistic, they both just don't feel right and both have their own issues. The drone camera is far too fidgety to get the right settings and just feels weird. Fsrealstic has bugs and doesn't work fully half the time Oftentimes times there will be missing aircraft pieces and the controls don't feel great.
So I hope this is a feature we will see - in fact, I'm fairly confident it will be, just to what extent we'll see it enter the simulator is the question. None the less i hope this opened up your minds to possibly new and massive feature that could enter Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024
