May 23, 2024MSFS Black Square - Turbine Duke Review
Meet the Turbo Duke
Let me start off by saying this is one of the most highly detailed aircraft I've had to date. Black Square has gone above and beyond as always, but truly this time they've nailed it and hit it out of the park with the Grand piston and Turbo Duke.
The Cockpit
As always Black Square includes options for different avionic load-outs, which include GTN 750 (PMS50 or TDS) Or you can go back in history and fly the classic Duke using Bendix KNS-81 navigation. There is a bit of everything for everyone in this aircraft. In the cockpit, you'll also find the extremely in-depth EFB or tablet to the right of your seat. Where you can see every single aspect of this aircraft, including aspects of the turbine engine like temperatures and pressures.
You'll find a mixture of steam and digital gauge clusters in the cockpit that have an amazing 3d depth to all the gauges. You can really appreciate all the small details that went into the gauges and panels in the cockpit
Which also includes a sleek and comfortable luxurious cabin, with plenty of interaction from the tray tables to the cabin door.
The Flight Model
The Flight characteristics of this aircraft truly feel amazing, but be ready to feel the turbine lag, and the massive amounts of torque the engines put out - it will catch up to you quickly and it will damage the engines. Everything else feels as real as it could be. Even stalling the aircraft feels exactly how it should (I imagine) - You'll have an amazing time, doing small hops all the way to extending its full-length fuel capcities. It feels amazing to fly, it's like a sleek sports car of the skies, although it feels heavy in the turning. You can really feel all the weight in every input you make on the controls
You can feel the weight in every input you make on the Duke - when you trim it out, to turn into final you can feel every movement you make
The Sound Package
This is one of the highest quality sound packages I've heard with sounds for everything and I mean everything, each switch sounds different and even opens doors while the turbine is spooling - the sounds Turbine Duke has some of the best sounds in aviation history in my opinion.
Meet the most indpeth EFB
VR Support
We've been treated to full VR Support in this aircraft and it is one of the most fun aircraft to fly in VR both for its flyability and its complexity. It is truly a dream to fly in VR
Overall thoughts
Coming in at $58 USD this is possibly one of the most in-depth aircraft to exist currently on the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace. This is a purchase you won't regret and will make you keep a close eye on what Black Square is doing in the MSFS community. I've only put around 10 hours into aircraft and 8 of those hours have been in VR. This is just one of those must-have essential aircraft for every simmer. So check it out in the Just Flight Store Here
