June 8, 2024Virtual Desktop Adds Multi-Monitor Support
We've had an update from the team behind Virtual Desktop, which now allows multi-monitor support. This is a big deal, it's something that has been missing from the platform for a long time and now we've been blessed with this amazing update. So let's talk about what changed
Whats changed?
Obviously the big is multi-monitor support, however, there are a couple of catches to it. If you are using the Meta Quest 3, you can use up to 3 of your monitors in VR, however, if you're using a Quest 2, Quest Pro Pico Neo 3,4 or Vive Focus 3, Vive XR Elite - you'll only be able to enjoy 2 monitors in Virtual Reality. We're assuming this will be due to physical limitations with the hardware, that's just my assumption though. With that said let's go over what else was added - We've got keyboard passthrough for supported Meta Quest Keyboards, along with a whole list of features to work alongside the multi-monitor support. I suggest you give the changelog a read yourself here
Whats the big deal about?
With this change it means that you can finally bring your other monitors into virtual reality for those who used multiple monitors - I've always wanted to be able to see my discord or music while I was working on my main display - but it was a feature that was always missing, until now. It gives me and many other people more reasons to use Virtual Desktop
A wish to the devs
Now if only they could bring in Virtual monitors - as in if you only had 1 but wanted to virtual simulate another 2, this would be an amazing feature I'd love to see
But none the less, this update is one of the biggest and most important updates I personally think has come to Virtual Desktop
