What was once a forgotten love by Orbx has finally been loved again by Prestige Simulations. We can finally bring the aircraft to Avalon Airport in Geelong (YMAV). So let's take a look as I go over Prestige Simulations YMAV.
First thing - I've been to this airport many times in real life. It's one of the first airports to hit me with nostalgia. The Jetstar sign banners, the small carpark, and the big sign that says "Avalon Airport". For what I'd call a budget rendition of this airport, it's honestly quite good. I'm delighted with my 12 AUD spent.
This is the heading
The apron and taxiways are done very nicely around the terminal - it's clear the main focus when creating Avalon Airport was the carpark and the terminal/apron, which is great - however, it's lacking in some areas - again this airport is only a "budget" airport. I did appreciate that they added the Avalon 747 - which was a Qantas 747-338 "VH-EBU" Fun fact it used to be in the Nalanji Dreaming livery before it was painted in its Avalon Airport Livery.
The Bad
Once we take a look down towards the hangers we can see a slight drop in quality and attention to detail, which is to be expected at this price range. We can next to the hanger taxi way 2d objects from Bings map next to the taxi ways - which really ruins the look. It's also a shame there isn't more grass like there is in real life in the center of the airport.
Overall thoughts,
Honestly well done to Prestige Simulations for YMAV, they've done a really good job for the price they charge. You can't go wrong with this one, there is plenty to explore airside and lots of history you can see. This is definitely no Orbx quality but it's a solid effort with what they have done.
