July 19, 2024CAS PIPER J-3 CUB MSFS Review
The CAS Piper J-3 Cub isn't like anything else you've seen in a flight simulator before, this is one of the most unique features of full aircraft I've had the joy of flying in MSFS. So let's talk about that, the J3 Cub is one of the most iconic tail dragger aircraft to ever exist.
The Piper Cub is amazing to fly in the simulator it features a "Bespoke MSFS CFD flight model" - which does feel stunning to fly and handle, at low and slow speeds you can really feel the weight and drag of the aircraft. It doesn't stop there, the engine isn't the most powerful however it is very versatile - there isn't much of a learning curve compared to other jetliners out on the market. However, it's more of a learning curve of hand-flying the aircraft and feeling its flight model.

Just like with most aircraft and add-ons we're seeing a big push for EFB Tablets, the J3 Cub also features a tablet that lets you customize the aircraft and settings for the aircraft. CAS tablet for the J3 is very simple to use, allowing you to change everything on the fly including one of my favorite features - Damages
The J3 has a very advanced system for engine failures, as well as damaged models - you can break the propellor and even break off your front landing wheels. This is one of the first aircraft that I've seen a damage model for, where you can actually break things physically off the aircraft.
Overall the CAS J3 Cub is an amazing work of art - for the price you can't really beat it. It is one of my favorite GA aircraft to fly around in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 - it's packed with more than enough features. The only thing I'd change is the ability to add a GPS or modernize the aircraft, but at the same time - it's an old bird, and it's great fun to fly as it is. Check it out on the simMarket here
