Overall Thoughts 8/10
Everyone and their grandparents know about chatGPT, but not everyone knows about all the things it can truly be used for. For example, as we've seen right here with sayintentions.ai - although we can't confirm if this is the exact service they use. Nonetheless, I've been using and pushing this addon to the max. I've done roughly 16 hours with it now and done VFR, IFR, emergency procedures and even asking controllers for jokes and personal life stories. So let me break this down for you, is it worth it? what does it do? and who is it for
What Is Sayintentions.Ai
sayintentions.ai is an AI solution to replace the standard ATC system in flight simulator 2020. We all know how horrible the standard Microsoft Flight Simulator Air Traffic Control can be - so this product definitely has a market. It uses your voice or text, to talk to the air traffic controller - as if it was real life. Let me say it does a decent job at it, it does have some quirks and bugs but it blows me away.
The UI or user interface for sayintentions.ai is fairly straightforward forward with everything being clearly marked and simply laid out. Before you dive into flying your plane you'll want to quickly visit the application and set up your headphone and microphone for the application. You can also go in and change your "identity" which is essential to your callsign, for example, "Qantas, Skyhawk, Jetstar, KLM" and so on.
Who Is Sayintentions.Ai For?
Sayintentions.ai almost seems like a replacement for Vatsim IVAO or any other online network - however, sayintentions.ai won't interact with the other traffic in your game which is a letdown. However, if you are afraid of going online but want more realism then this is for you, if you're tired of waiting for a controller to come online on vatsim - then this is for you. If you don't really worry or care about the air traffic control side of things in the simulator. This isn't for you, they do offer a $1 USD trial that allows you to test it out which is a great option for anyone who isn't sure if this is the product for them.
Lets sum it up with the good and bad
The Good
Honestly, it's kind of a game changer for me when flying VFR, throw in VR and it's a full suite of simulations, it makes flying feel more meaningful - far more realistic and much more fun. I genuinely enjoy this product, it is 100% perfect for VFR and helicopter flying, and to a degree, IFR flying too. We'll get to that part later though, but this real-sounding AI person will guide you to wherever you need to go. Vector you onto approach or help you practice your curits around the airfield.
The Bad
Yes just like everything, this has its downfalls - although let's keep an open mind that these things can be patched and updated in time. However with that said let's go through it, first of all, if you speak with an accent, lisp, or any form of speech disorder, the AI may not understand what you are saying. I speak decently perfect Austrailan (English) and even for me, I'll hear the wrong words. Next is a very annoying one, like in real life you can be forgotten about and handovers to the next frequency won't happen. This isn't all the time but has happened a fair few times to me. It will seemingly give me STARS and arrivals that don't exist for the airport along with runways that aren't correct. That's the bad done for now!
Overall Thoughts
Overall this is a really decent product, I think if you're a passionate flyer and want to up your realism then this is absolutely for you. If you are keen on flying and pushing it to the next level then get it, however, if you don't fly with traffic or using air traffic control, this might not be the product for you or maybe it is. Let me know what you think of this review, overall I love sayintentions.ai and what they've made here. Cheers for reading!
